Web based deployment of a Business Intelligence solution for the Pharmaceutical Industry: A Case Study, Bob Gomez, ACG, Renaissance, 11:00 AM
This presentation will provide an overview of a real-life Oracle based Web Business Intelligence Solution for a top tier Pharmaceutical company. The system is currently in production for 250+ users across the country. It offers access to current 3rd party performance data aw sell as field data (e.g. calls, samples, details) which is collected from the 4000+ field representatives. District Managers, Regional Managers, upper management, and home office sales analysts use the system for a variety of analytical purposes from field force evaluation to sales campaigns and physician targeting. The presentation will discuss the approach used to build the system along with what worked and what did not. A live presentation of the web-based business intelligence technology will be included.

Issues of data availability in today’s computing environment. Dan will discuss backup & recovery as it relates to the distributed Open System Relational Database environment. He will discuss the various data needs, 24x7 availability, acceptable data loss and the backup & recovery needed for each type of data need.

The presenter will lead a "back to basics" overview of Oracle backup and recovery techniques and strategies.  This is an introductory session applicable to all junior DBAs or technical staff that have an interest in learning more about backup/recovery.
