From Client/Server to the Web:  Developer 6i, Lakshmi Ramaiyer, Matthew Reagan Centocor, Inc., Shoba Sharma, Centocor, Inc., 10:30 AM
In order to expand and enhance our application deployment options, we are reviewing Oracle's thin client technology, specifically Developer 6i's Forms Server CGI interface.  During this presentation, we will build a simple forms application using traditional client/server technology.  We will then install and configure Oracle's Developer 6i Forms Server CGI implementation on a Windows NT Server using IIS 4.0.  Finally, we will deploy the same form using the Forms Server we built.  This will be an interactive presentation, so bring your questions, opinions, and experiences.

Playing in the Shared Pool Without a Lifeguard, Greg Plummer, AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical LP, 10:30 AM
There is often confusion about the shared pool and how it should be tuned and configured. There are differing opinions about pool sizing, pool flushing, and object "pinning". This presentation will review tuning tips, object "pinning", scripts used for monitoring, pool flushing guidelines, and recommendations for init.ora parameters. It will also provide a description of the shared pool and the implications and impact it can have on your system and performance.

Oracle Database Monitoring to Survive, Chris Grabowy, First Consulting Group, 12:30 PM
The objective of this paper, and its supporting presentation, is to motivate Oracle database administrator to proactively monitor their databases.  This can be accomplished with some thoughtful planning and a software package such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, a third party monitoring product, or with a suite of customized scripts..

110 Percent Generation Using Oracle's Designer, Nicholas Donatone, MFG Systems, 12:30 PM
How do you achieve 110 percent generation using Oracle Designer?  This presentation will discuss how to go beyond 100 percent generation.  Users have been able to get to 100 percent generation by using well-planned templates, database triggers, procedures, functions, packages and attached libraries.  It may be easier to create a menu for the application using Oracle Developer, but if you don't generate the menu then you can't say you are 100 percent generated.  There are advantages in generating and storing the menu structure in Designer.

Performance Tuning Tips and Techniques, Kevin Loney, TUSC, 1:45 PM
This presentation will show examples of performance tuning exercises involving both the overall database environment and specific SQL statements.

Ask Oracle Tools/DBA Expert Panel, moderated by Matt Reagan, Centocor, Inc., 3:00 PM
Bring your questions, concerns, thoughts and stories.  This is your opportunity to ask the questions you don't dare ask at the office, and come away with answers, directions, and approaches you can take to the database administration and Oracle product issues that you need to handle.  Novices and experts are all welcome.
